Kimberly Fick is no stranger to the work of church ministry. Born in Ithaca, NY, Kimberly grew up in a family that traveled throughout the United States singing Christian music at small churches, schools, nursing homes, prisons, and campgrounds. She has served as a short-term missionary with YWAM in West Africa, a Campus Minister with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at Cornell University, and as a head pastor of a Free Methodist Church in Cortland. Kimberly graduated in 2021 from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Religion, focusing on Practical Ministry.
Kimberly graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2003 with a BA in Contemporary Ministries. After a short while fund-raising and traveling with her family after undergrad, Kimberly pursued the work of international missions with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) in Sierra Leone and The Gambia in 2004. A wise missionary advised her at the end of that season to learn how to be a missionary in her own backyard next. Having never actually lived in one place for more than a few months at a time, Kimberly settled down in Ithaca for the next several years working at the Ithaca Montessori School as an assistant teacher and then as a nanny. She was actively involved in her church as a vocalist on the worship team, a Sunday School teacher, and a mentor in the youth group.
In 2009, Kimberly met her husband, Charles, who had just begun working as a campus minister with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Cornell University. They were married in 2010 and in 2011 Kimberly also joined Intervarsity as the campus minister with the Asian American chapter at Cornell. Their added a son to the family at the end of 2013. In 2016 they moved to Massachusetts to attend Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Their second son was born that summer. Six weeks before they graduated in 2021, their third son was born.
They moved closer to home and family in 2021 and settled in Cortland, NY, where Kimberly pastored the Free Methodist Church for 2 years and attempted to launch a church plant for special needs families. They joyfully added a golden retriever named Yukon Gold to the family in 2022 who is a professionally trained and licensed service dog for their oldest son. Snickerdoodle the orange tabby cat begrudgingly joined our family in 2023 but prefers to wander the back alleys of Cortland most days where he undoubtedly finds himself in more interesting company than if he stayed home.
Kimberly is passionate about hospitality, good chocolate, and the Buffalo Bills winning the Super Bowl.
